The funds raised are for sports facilities and a baby monitor for Cavan General Hospital. A very worthy cause.
Thanks to the Parents Association for this lovely letter...

"..I would like on behalf of the Royal School Cavan Parents Association to thank you most sincerly for your generous donation of a chicken hamper for our Monster Auction held on Friday last March 24th in the Cavan Crystal Hotel, which you donated via Georgina McCaffrey.

We raised over €18000 and are deeply indebted to the many local businesses and those further afield, including yours, for the success of this fund-raising event. The funds raised are for the indoor sports facilities and towards a baby monitor for the special care unit of Cavan General Hospital.

Wishing ou every success in the future..."

The student in Dublin City University, have set up a new society this year. The DCU Irish Heart Society. This is a charity run society working with the Irish Heart Society. It is run by students.

They have regular events, fundraisers etc.  Last year they raised over €600 euro for the Irish Heart Foundation. They  promote healthy lifestyle and run first aid courses for our members.

Rosie & Jim have donated €100 to DCU Irish Heart Society.

We're so proud of April - our gorgeous sponsored Irish Guide Dog for the blind. We received this lovely update on how she is progressing.

April is excelling in her training.
She loves going on her training walks to shops and cafes but especially loves going out with her room mate ambassador dog Yanson. He has been a great help in showing her the ropes. She has great recall so gets to enjoy some time off running around the Dublin mountains. We are hoping that April will be picked for breeding so that other puppies can take on her amazing personality! We will miss her dearly but know that she is destined for greater things.

We can't imagine having to say goodbye to her.

What a beautiful shot of April - our sponsored Guide Dog. We hear she has settled in well to her new home as a brood in Kerry.   Here is the update from her brood holder:

“April is doing great. She has fitted in well with the other dogs & likes nothing better than playing with them which includes her doing her backwards spins.
She recently joined the Tralee guide dogs group in the Sunday Rose of Tralee parade where she was a big hit with young & old. Health wise - no issues & has definitely no appetite problems!”

Aww good on ya April. Keep up the good work... and entertaining other dogs with your backspins of course! laugh

Introducing our new Irish Guide Dog pups - Pebbles, Pepe and Percy.

As part of the ongoing sponsorship Rosie & Jim are funding three new puppies for two years. The €30,000 sponsorship covers their vitally important training. With more than 270,000 people who have a visual impairment in Ireland and over 1% of the population impacted by autism, the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind works tirelessly to facilitate those affected by providing them guide and assistance dogs. The average cost of training a dog is in the region of €53,000 and the charity rely on 85% of their funding through sponsorship like this and fundraising to continue to deliver their vital services for free throughout Ireland. Their services are offered free of charge.

John Burke of Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind said:

“Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind is proud to have Rosie & Jim come on board once again with this wonderful support. We are very fortunate to have such valued supporters who have been instrumental in helping to train our dogs and to truly help change lives. As the P litter enter their puppy raising phase and on to their formal training, we look forward to updating you all on their progress. Thank you again for the amazing support”

The puppies were named by our lovely customers in a competition. Thanks to our winners Sinead Walker, Emer Mary Breen & Sinead O'Rouke for these great names - Pebbles, Pepe and Percy!

We're delighted to sponsor Andrew Wallace €150 for his charity race to raise awareness for Amyloidosis.

Amyloidosis (am-uh-loi-DO-sis) is a rare disease that occurs when a substance called amyloid builds up in your organs. Amyloid is an abnormal protein that is produced in your bone marrow and can be deposited in any tissue or organ.

Well done to Andrew who is on track to fundraise his aim of €5000.

*UPDATED August 2019*

Andrew not only made his target he completely shattered it! Making a huge €21,000 himself,  then a charity benefactor matched his donation, so that has now been turned into a whopping €42,000!! Fantastic News - well done Andrew!

Rosie & Jim have made a donation of €2000 to the Oxfam Ireland 'Get Children Back to School' fundraising initiative.

Children in Iraq probably want nothing more than to go back to their classrooms and playgrounds too. But as families who fled Mosul when the conflict started slowly start to return, they’re finding their schools destroyed.

Rosie & Jim sponsored €750 for the The Ronald McDonald House Charities cycling jersey.

They were planning an annual cycle around Blessington Lakes on April 25th but this fundraising event sadly had to be cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions. So they have come up with a new plan - for May!

Cycle 60km during the month of May, in your own area and when suits you to help continue to care for our families at this unique time. It costs us €60.00 per night per family, and by registering you will be providing a family a home for the night when they need it the most.  Register online on Giv2Go for €60.00. Receive the bespoke Ronald McDonald cycle jersey. Keep one family close to their seriously sick child for one night. Cycle apart and come together for Ronald McDonald House.

Find out more about this on the RMHC website - https://rmhc.ie/events/charity-cycle4families-2020/

This is a hugely important fundraiser as they continue to raise funds for their New House alongside the New Children’s Hospital.

Check out the fab jerseys with Rosie & Jim logo! We're sure they'll get plenty of use once the restrictions are lifted :)
