ArtoHuntleigh Maxislide Sheets and Tubes - Rosie & Jim Chicken ProductsRosie & Jim recently sponsored new maxislide sheets and tubes for the children in LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice. This flat sheet sliding system is essential to allow our carers to perform a wide range of handling manoeuvres for our children, simply and safely, removing risk of injury to both the child and the carer.

We needed a large selection of these in different shapes and sizes to enable safe manoeuvring of all our children.

Rosie & Jim sponsored the full order!

Specialised Clinical Trolleys - Rosie & Jim Chicken ProductsThese clinical trolleys are used for easy mobility of suction machines and other vital medical equipment. They are made from a type of Perspex which is so easy to keep hygienically clean. As such they also look much nicer and are far less noisy, which means they do not frighten or intimidate our children in the same way as stainless steel trolley’s.

We were very much in need of 4 of these trolley’s to enable our medical team to distribute their treatments as safely and easily as possible, with as little upset to our children as possible.

Rosie & Jim sponsored these 4 trolley’s for us at a cost of €2,300, making a huge difference to the Hazel House unit of LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.

Family Fun Day - Rosie & Jim Chicken ProductsThe Family Fun Day which takes place in August is a day that we dedicate to our children and their families.

It is a day of fun, laughter and activity where the children who use our service and all their family members are invited to come together on the grounds of LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, where our staff and dedicated volunteers create a special day for them all. The day includes face painters, bouncy castles, games entertainers, stilt walkers, a marquee tent for activities, a DJ, Build-A-Bear, a first aid tent, a treasure hunt, as well as big BBQ and an ice cream van with spot prizes for all! All of the activities are especially designed and created for the participation of our children, and their families can join in the fun. This special day for our families would cost us over €6,000, but with the in-kind support of many suppliers, this cost is halved.

Rosie & Jim have this year sponsored the cost of this incredible event for us, ensuring the provision of a wonderful day for all the family to enjoy together.

Flexmort CuddleCot System - Rosie & Jim Chicken ProductsUnfortunately all of the babies and children who spend time at LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice are life-limited by their conditions. The saddest and most difficult thing our families must face during their time with us is the loss of their little boy or girl. Dealing with the death of a baby is an incredibly difficult time for parents and many bereaved parents wish to spend some time with the baby. The CuddleCot is used to cool deceased babies allowing the family time to spend time with the baby. With this special piece of equipment, families can use our Butterfly Suite, a special room built for families to spend time with their little one after they have passed away, to say goodbye in as comfortable and peaceful a way as possible.

“Having this piece of equipment is a wonderful thing. As painful as it is, it gives parents like me some quality time with their loved one, it certainly did for me.” - Parent

NELLCOR SP02 Sensor - Rosie & Jim Chicken ProductsRosie & Jim have sponsor 10 months worth of Nellcor Oxygen Centres.

These Nellcor Oxygen Centres are one of the many vital pieces of equipment LauraLynn needs on a daily basis to provide medical care to our children.

They allow our carers to constantly monitor the oxygen levels and heart rate of the children in our care, through an adhesive probe on their finger to ensure both are always maintained at the right level.

Rosie & Jim has kindly sponsored of these for 10 months for LauraLynn House, our palliative care unit.

Family Fun Day - Rosie & Jim Chicken ProductsOur Family Fun Day took place in August again this year – a day for all our families to come together and celebrate in LauraLynn. It is one of the most special days here in our children’s hospice.

This year our theme was Superheroes and Princesses, with some amazing costumes on the day from kids and adults alike!

After the overwhelming success of this event last year, Rosie & Jim generously sponsored this event for us again, ensuring we could make this fabulous day possible for all our families.

Respite care - Rosie & Jim Chicken ProductsRespite care is the very heart of what we do here at LauraLynn. It is not a luxury, but a necessity for both the caregivers and the sick child.

Caring for a seriously ill child puts immense physical and emotional strain on the whole family. Through our respite care, families have the opportunity to take a break, while we care for their sick child. Our multi-disciplinary team provides children with full medical support, as well as a variety of therapies to enhance their care.

We are able to offer families choices, providing on-going support for as long as they choose.

Providing a nights respite to a child is an invaluable gift to the child and their whole family and Rosie & Jim have donated to support 5 overnight stays for a child.

Development of Bereavement Support - Rosie & Jim Chicken ProductsLauraLynn’s Family Bereavement Programme provides both formal and informal help and support to all children and families who are accessing our service. Many parents wonder how they will carry on after the death of their child. Every family’s experience is different and it can be a roller coaster of emotions.

Development of Bereavement Support - Rosie & Jim Chicken ProductsThanks to the support of Rosie & Jim, our bereavement team are developing the programme this year with some new and enhanced services, including Family Bereavement Days, Pamper Morning for mothers, ‘Memory Walks’ for fathers, an Annual Memorial Service and a new LauraLynn Book of Remembrance.

Education & Training for Children’s Healthcare Team

LauraLynn is required to incorporate on-going learning into its service development initiatives, but unfortunately the cost of this is considerable.  Rosie & Jim, Ballybrittas have supported us this quarter by putting funding towards educational and training resources for our nurses and carers.  Funding for educational books and training for development and up-skilling is crucial to the development of the service and care we provide here.

Sponsorship of our Annual Report

Each year LauraLynn release an Annual Report, where our members, service users and funders can read about our activities and achievements in the past year while learning about our future objectives. It is an invaluable tool for communicating with all our stakeholders. We are hugely grateful to Rosie & Jim for sponsoring our Annual Report this year.

For the second time, Rosie & Jim have made a donation towards our most critical need… respite care.

Respite & end-of-life care are the very heart of what we do here at LauraLynn.  With the urgent focus being on funding LauraLynn@HOME, we desperately need to ensure we continue to receive funding to run the hospice and provide care to the families who come and stay with us.  Heartfelt thanks to Rosie & Jim for once again sponsoring respite care and giving this invaluable gift of time and care to our families.
