‘Rosie & Jim’ came into existence in 1997 when award winning Craft Butcher Jimmy McLoughin established Quality First Limited and began producing gourmet chicken products for supply to butcher shops and restaurants.
‘Operating from premises in St. Paul's Enterprise Centre, North King Street, Dublin 7, a delicious range of innovative, restaurant standard chicken products was developed. Before long, the rapidly growing business moved to larger premises in Inchicore, Dublin 8, at which point Rosie joined to assist with running the business.
‘The reputation of Quality First’s ‘McLoughlins’ range of chicken products continued to spread and proved to be particularly popular in traditional Butcher Shops. Indeed, 8 products from the range were awarded specialty food awards by the Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland in the years 2002, 2003, and 2005. By this time, the ‘McLoughlins’ range was being distributed throughout Ireland using a network of carefully selected chilled and frozen foods distributors.
‘By 2002, continued growth made it necessary for the business to move once more, to their current factory premises located at Muirfield Drive, Naas Road, Dublin 12.
‘Rosie and Jimmy McLoughlin are a husband and wife team who share a passion for wholesome quality food. They attribute the popularity of their chicken products to great recipes, ingredients and commitment to excellence in how their food is produced. They do not out-source the manufacture of their products, their position on such cost cutting measures is simple – ‘if we don’t produce it, we don’t sell it’.
‘In 2011, a decision was made to re-brand from ‘McLoughlins’ to simply Rosie & Jim. Product development has always been central to continued success of the business, and so new innovative products continue to be added to the range. Rosie and Jim work closely with Bord Bia and Enterprise Ireland and are currently building a customer base for their unique product range in the UK market.
